That is very interesting Bill, especially as I am working on a website that has a redirect on the URL to the index page, which can’t be doing the site any favours . . .

Nowadays I normally don’t bother to read emails from the likes of WebProNewsUK because I know I am wasting my time, they really have nothing to teach me. Then today I did read the email and Bill’s article and WOW. Here was something that had never occurred to me!

Dear Bill, I can not thank you enough for such a great and informative article. As soon as I read it, I promptly checked out one of my websites and was stunned to see how often I had linked to index.html now I have changed them all to my real home page, I hope that is the right thing to do. I will be doing the same exercise for all my websites.

It is also important for sites to link directly to internal pages on your site where the content is relevant to that page.Then your site internal links will take the person to the home page.
